Started on October 9, 2023, the eighth edition of the Africa App Challenge unveils its first ten winners.

This year the subject of the competition was to imagine a digital service which will contribute to the development of green energies.

More than 800 projects were received and ten were selected to continue the adventure.

The finalists are invited to take their project a little further in order to hope to be the grand prize winner of the competition and win a prize of 15,000 euros.

The projects selected are as follows:

Divin Kouebatouka (Democratic Republic of Congo)

:

GreenBox™️ is an agricultural management application monitoring products entering and leaving the system, providing alerts on product quality and conservation, as well as real-time price forecasts to help farmers farmers to assess the value of their products on the market.

Jamai Mounir (Morocco)

:

NR COUNTER is an Energy Management System platform for smart grids, optimizing energy production, storage and consumption, making energy accessible in rural Africa.

Nycaise Zoungrana (Burkina Faso)

:

KINGUA is an application facilitating the use of solar electric charging stations in Burkina Faso by allowing users to locate and check the real-time availability of the terminals, while making payment directly from the application.

Chiza Aristide (Democratic Republic of Congo):

UMEME ADVISOR APP is a tool helping users reduce their energy consumption thanks to artificial intelligence analyzing habits and offering saving tips, while allowing suppliers to anticipate the future energy demand and reduce air pollution.

Olivier Gene (Ivory Coast)

:

OQINTI BESOLAR is an application used by energy producers to forecast their production using meteorological tools, thus facilitating the management of solar farms.

It reconditions existing solar farms less than ten years old to ensure their operational feasibility and monitors photovoltaic energy production.

Adoumadji Mbaiornom Fermaud (Chad)

:

Télé-irrigation is an application allowing remote irrigation by integrating meteorological data collection tools and advanced functionalities such as artificial intelligence and agricultural drones.

Luvik Otoka (Democratic Republic of Congo)

:

Kanga Moyibi is an application for detecting illegal connections to solve electricity fraud problems, allowing an accurate reading of consumption and reducing financial losses.

Emmanuel Nsong (Democratic Republic of Congo):

L-Agro is a mobile service offering farmers access to ecological mobile ginning units equipped with solar-powered machines to improve income and preserve the environment.

Youssoupha Coly (Senegal)

:

Energy Control App-ECA is a green energy performance and efficiency optimization tool monitoring the operation of solar installations for better management of energy consumption.

Djerareou Arsene (Chad)

SOLAR TECH is a platform linked to a mobile application allowing the connection of intelligent solar panels, adjusting their position according to the sun for optimization of green energy.

The jury for this first selection is made up of Anne-Cécile Bras, journalist at RFI and presenter of the show “C’est pas du vent”;

Guillaume Grallet, journalist at Le Point and columnist for Tech 24 on France 24;

Jeanne Richard, journalist for Environmental Questions;

Aphrodice Mutangana, director of partnerships at Digital Africa;

Arona Dieudhiou, research director at the Research Institute for Development (IRD);

Olivia Hervy, Chief Ecosystem Officer at Viva Technology;

Olivier Prentout, marketing director at Ayoba;

Phillipe Miquel, Managing Director CFAO Infrastructure – B2B sector;

Karim Sy, founder of the Jokkolabs association;

and finally Armand Sofack, founder and CEO of Mobility Cloud.

Launched by RFI and France 24 and its partners CFAO Infrastructure, Digital Africa, IRD, Ayoba, Viva Technology, the Club Abidjan Ville Durable, AFD, Digital Energy Facility (funded by the European Union and implemented by AFD ), Ademe and Ecobank.

The eighth edition of the Africa App Challenge aims to reward digital innovations to improve green energy in Africa.
