As part of the commission of inquiry into drug trafficking, senators are going to Marseille this Thursday to meet local elected officials, security forces and even magistrates in order to measure the extent of drug trafficking in the Marseille city.

For Europe 1, two Marseille students testify to a daily life plagued by traffickers.

After Seine-Saint-Denis and Burgundy, the members of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into drug trafficking will be in Marseille this Thursday.

Meetings are planned with local elected officials, security forces and even magistrates from France's second city.

It is up to them to describe the daily life of residents who live with fear in their stomachs under the yoke of drug trafficking.

“We don’t know what can happen to us”

This fear never leaves two students from downtown Marseille met by Europe 1. "We have a lump in our stomach because we have to pass through two or even three deal points to reach our establishment. Every day, we cross syringes to enter our establishment. We pass through a public urinal with unbearable odors. We also pass between campfires. In the evening, we have fear in our stomachs, we don't know what could happen to us," explains one of the students.

A student notices a form of aggression on the part of the dealers.

"We have a cleaning lady who was attacked. As soon as we go out, they offer us drugs. We would just like to go to class without having to go through this kind of climate. I have already been insulted and threatened ", concludes the student.
