Capacity, etc., to cope with the possible upward salt tide in the Pearl River Estuary and ensure the security of water supply in Macao and other places in the near future.
The Pearl River Committee introduced that last winter and this spring, seven rounds of strong salt tides occurred in the Modaomen Waterway at the Pearl River Estuary. During this period, relevant departments comprehensively strengthened salt tide monitoring, water source reserve, fresh water storage and water supply dispatching and other measures, and successfully responded to the seven rounds of strong salt tides. The water supply safety in Macao, Zhuhai and other places has been fully guaranteed.
The Pearl River Committee stated that in order to continue to do a good job in water supply guarantee work and ensure the safety of water supply in Macau, Zhuhai and other places in the near future, the relevant person in charge of the committee has led a team to Zhuhai to investigate and guide the recent water supply guarantee work, and inspected the peace of Zhuhai Zhuxiandong Reservoir and Zhuyin Reservoir on the spot. Gang Pumping Station Salt Tide Station, learned in detail about Macao’s water supply, local reservoir water storage, water quality monitoring, urban and rural water supply dispatch and emergency support measures, and provided guidance to relevant departments.
The relevant person in charge of the Pearl River Committee said that the committee will continue to monitor and forecast rain, water, and salty conditions, scientifically reserve local water supply sources, and make every effort to do a good job in water storage and water supply as the "first line of defense"; and refine and improve emergency water supply guarantees. Prepare emergency plans, strengthen inspection and maintenance of water pumping stations, water supply pipelines and facilities, and be prepared to respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
At the same time, the Pearl River Committee will deepen the research on the mechanism of salt tide upwards in the Pearl River estuary, continue to improve the ability to predict and report rainwater and salt water conditions, and provide accurate support for the implementation of emergency water dispatch to suppress salt water and replenish fresh water. It will also strengthen information sharing and promptly release water supply security work updates to the public.
