The head of state said this during a meeting with participants of the World Youth Festival (WYF).

The Russian leader recalled Washington’s military operations in the territories of Iraq, Syria and the former Yugoslavia, which it carried out without a corresponding decision of the UN Security Council.

“The United States itself let this genie out of the bottle.

But if they are allowed, then why are other countries not allowed to protect their core interests in the same way?”

- Putin stated.

Earlier, Russia's first deputy permanent representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, said that another 60 generations of people suffering from health problems due to NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in the late 1990s would curse the alliance.
