OpenAI, the American company that developed ChatGPT, has issued a statement rebutting entrepreneur Elon Musk, who is suing the company.
It points out that there is a contradiction in Mr. Musk's claims that criticize the pursuit of profit.
Elon Musk was involved in founding OpenAI in 2015 with CEO Sam Altman, and also provided funding.
The company was originally established as a non-profit research institute to ensure the safety of AI development, but has since demanded the return of the funds it provided, claiming that the company's pursuit of profits is a breach of contract. The lawsuit was filed on February 29th.
In response, Open AI released a statement on the 5th, saying, ``The company's mission is to develop safe AI and widely distribute its profits.''
It also released emails from Musk to company executives at the time.
