The Israeli occupation forces re-arrested the freed Jordanian prisoner Munir Qassem and his nephew Ahmed Qassem after they raided their homes yesterday, Tuesday, in the town of Balaa in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank, where they reside.

The National Committee for Prisoners and Missing Persons held the occupation fully responsible for their safety, calling on the Jordanian government to make every effort to release them, and to use all the pressure cards that Jordan possesses for their release.

The families of the Jordanian prisoner in the Israeli occupation prisons, Muhammad Dardoun, appealed to the Jordanian government to exert its efforts to release their son, who was arrested by the Israeli occupation forces 6 months ago, without knowing his fate.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Net, the mother of the prisoner Muhammad Dardoun demanded that the Jordanian government know the fate of her son, especially since there has been no news about him completely since the moment of his arrest until now, without them being contacted to check on her son’s safety.

Al Jazeera Net also learned from human rights sources that the Israeli occupation court postponed Dardon's trial yesterday, Tuesday, until next April 17.

Dardon was arrested because he was accused of running over a group of settlers on September 15, 2023, according to Israeli police allegations.

A stand in solidarity

In a related context, the National Committee for Jordanian Prisoners and Missing Persons in Israeli Detention Centers organized a solidarity stand a few days ago in front of the United Nations headquarters in Amman, to demand the rescue of male and female prisoners from the oppression of the occupation, given the serious and unprecedented violations they are exposed to inside prisons.

The number of Jordanian prisoners in the occupation prisons is 22, according to the latest statistics of the National Committee for Jordanian Prisoners and Missing Persons, after the occupation forces re-arrested a number of Jordanian prisoners residing in different areas of the West Bank following the events of the “Al-Aqsa Flood.”

Re-arrest

For his part, the researcher on Jordanian prisoners’ affairs, Khader Al-Mashayikh, believes that the Jordanian prisoner, Muhammad Al-Dardoun, is currently under investigation in Israeli prisons, which prevents him from meeting with lawyers and leads to cutting off news from his family and lawyers.

The sheikhs pointed out that the Israeli Prison Service increased the severity of its procedures against prisoners in occupation prisons after last October 7, and that ambiguity surrounds the fate of prisoners in Israeli prisons, especially Jordanians who have had no news of their families since then.

He also stressed that dozens of Jordanian prisoners in occupation prisons, like the Palestinians, face extremely difficult and unprecedented conditions, including assault, torture, and the prevention of visits by families and lawyers.
