This food trade fair, ``FOODEX JAPAN,'' is held every year for the food industry, and began on the 5th at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward, Tokyo.



Approximately 2,800 companies and organizations from around the world are exhibiting, with a total of 178 companies and local governments exhibiting from Taiwan, the largest number ever.



Among them, the booth from Nantou County in central China, which was exhibiting for the first time, introduced snacks made using local tea and bananas.



A representative from Nantou County said, ``Japanese people are very health-conscious, so we think this is a very attractive market.''



A representative from a lemon juice company in southern Pingtung County, which also exhibited for the first time, said, ``The Chinese market is large, but it is easily influenced by politics.We would like to sell in Japan in the future.''



Since Taiwan became the Democratic Progressive Party's Tsai Ing-wen government, the Chinese government has frequently imposed embargoes on Taiwanese food products.



According to the Taiwan Trade Center, which works to promote trade between Japan and Taiwan, an increasing number of Taiwanese companies and local governments are promoting sales in Japan in an effort to diversify risks. We hope to expand the market in Japan.
