The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, said that the ground battles in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, have become based on skillful combat between the resistance and the occupation army, describing what is happening as an individual versus individual fight.

Al-Duwairi explained - during his analysis to Al-Jazeera - that the occupation operation in Khan Yunis underwent several fundamental changes in terms of assembling forces for operational purposes, as after every failure, forces are assembled and dealt with according to a short-time vision that revolves around re-responding to the defensive movements of the resistance.

He pointed out that the residential city of Hamad in Khan Yunis has two brigades out of 6 in the area, most of which are active and not reserve forces, revealing active resistance operations taking place as they are areas of the subsequent occupation forces, and hence the policy of "fighting from behind enemy lines."

The military expert pointed out that Gaza City is larger in area than Khan Yunis, and the construction is continuous and the defense was based on defensive partitions, while the area is smaller in the southern city and it contains paratroopers and special forces supported by tanks.

Major General Al-Duwairi confirmed that the current Israeli war on the Gaza Strip changed historical controversial concepts that were taught in Arab institutes, which state that Israel cannot wage a long war and that it is sensitive to human losses.

He added that this war has changed perceptions, as Israel has the ability to continue a long war of attrition, but it is working to compensate for everything it loses around the clock, while the human losses are not fully announced, citing reports indicating that 16,000 people were killed in the ranks of the occupation forces, including Dual nationality.
