The Politico newspaper reported that Rutte's candidacy for the post of NATO Secretary General is supported by two-thirds of the alliance countries.
However, Hungary was not among them.
According to Szijjártó, Budapest “absolutely” cannot support the choice for the post of NATO Secretary General of a person who previously “wanted to bring Hungary to its knees.”
“It would be very strange if the Hungarian government supported such a candidacy,” RIA Novosti quotes Szijjártó as saying.
Earlier, Szijjártó spoke about the lack of progress in Kyiv’s response to Budapest’s demands for the rights of Hungarians in Transcarpathia.
