The "Great Replacement" theory raises fear of foreigners and sees them as a grave danger (Associated Press)

The United Nations has warned of the "Great Replacement conspiracy theories" spreading in many countries, which incite xenophobia, and considered them delusional, racist and directly inciting violence.

This came in a speech by the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, in which he criticized the “war on awareness,” stressing that it is in fact a “war on inclusion.”

Türk stressed that ethnically mixed and multicultural societies are not a cause for fear, but should be seen as beneficial to people everywhere.

He said, "In many countries - including Europe and North America - I am concerned about the apparently increasing influence of what is called the Great Replacement, which relates to conspiracy theories based on the false idea that Jews, Muslims, non-whites, and immigrants seek to replace or suppress the cultures of countries and peoples."

The High Commissioner for Human Rights believed that "these delusional and deeply racist ideas directly affected many of the perpetrators of acts of violence."

Türk warned that ideas of a “war on awareness or war on inclusion” aim to exclude ethnic minorities.

"Multiculturalism is not a threat. It is the history of humanity and very useful to all of us," he said.
