One of the main suspects in the investigation into the assassination of Kevin Trompat and Leslie Hoorelbeke was released on Tuesday under judicial supervision.

Three other suspects remain in pre-trial detention and indicted for murder, kidnapping and forcible confinement and alteration of a crime scene. 

One of the main suspects in the investigation into the assassination of Kevin Trompat and Leslie Hoorelbeke in 2022 in Deux-Sèvres was released on Tuesday under judicial supervision, we learned from his lawyer, confirming a information from the daily La Nouvelle République.

Enzo C., 24, remains indicted on the same charges, Mr. Jérôme Goudard told AFP, namely assassination, kidnapping and sequestration and modification of a crime scene.

The investigating chamber of the Poitiers Court of Appeal canceled the young man's provisional detention order, one year after his arrest on March 2, 2023. Another of the five suspects, Stevan M., considered to be the "cleaner" of the crime scene, was also released at the beginning of January after his charges were reclassified as "concealment of a corpse" and "alteration of a crime scene", two offenses, and no longer for “kidnapping and sequestration” since he was not on the scene at the time of the events.

Three suspects still in custody 

In this case, three other suspects remain in pre-trial detention and indicted for murder, kidnapping and kidnapping and alteration of a crime scene, including Tom Trouillet, a friend of the two victims, who was staying with the couple on the evening of the tragedy.

Kevin Trompat and Leslie Hoorelbeke disappeared on the night of November 25 to 26, 2022 in Prahecq, a town of 2,000 inhabitants near Niort.

The motives of the accused remain unclear for the moment, between “sentimental disappointment and/or financial debts”, according to the public prosecutor in Poitiers, Cyril Lacombe.

A reconstitution, initially envisaged in April, should take place during the year 2024, perhaps in October or November, the council of one of the parties told AFP, confirming information from La Nouvelle République.
