A top job at NATO or the EU for Kaja Kallas?

After a "Politico" report in which an anonymous voice from EU circles expressed concerns about a possible appointment to Kallas as EU foreign policy representative, Estonia's head of government has now provided a humorous answer.

The idea of appointing Kallas as the EU's top diplomat remains "sensitive" in some EU capitals, the anonymous EU source is quoted as saying.

"I can't imagine France and Germany agreeing to this, for the same reasons that she is not considered for the NATO job," the source said, according to the report.

“Do we really want to put someone who likes eating Russian for breakfast in this position?”

The politician promptly shared a photo of her breakfast in the morning.

What you can see on it: no Russians, just muesli and blueberries.

Kallas had previously expressed interest in Jens Stoltenberg's position as NATO Secretary General.

She wants to admit Ukraine into the EU and NATO and is one of the harshest critics of the Russian regime.

However, there are fears in Brussels that with Kallas at the helm the confrontation with Russia would intensify and possibly escalate.

The Dutchman Mark Rutte is considered Stoltenberg's likely successor.
