Leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Osama Hamdan, said that the movement presented during the past two days its vision of the proposal presented by the mediators to complete the prisoner exchange deal with Israel, stressing the resistance’s adherence to the ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced, and the start of reconstruction operations.

He added, in a press conference today, Tuesday, from the Lebanese capital, Beirut, that the movement dealt seriously with the proposal presented by the Egyptian and Qatari mediators, accusing the occupation of continuing to evade, procrastinate, and commit massacres against civilians to pressure the resistance.

Hamdan stressed that Israel will not achieve through negotiations what it failed to achieve through fighting, and that implementing the conditions of resistance is the only way to exchange prisoners.

There must be a horizon for negotiations

Hamdan also noted that the movement will not allow the negotiations to be left without a horizon while the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip continues, “or for the negotiations to be a cover for the continued extermination of the Palestinian people,” stressing the resistance’s full readiness to defend the Palestinians, their land, and their sanctities, most notably Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He stressed that the Israeli leadership is adopting a policy of evasion and reneging on agreements during negotiations to gain more time in order to continue the aggression, and that it is not concerned with the safety of its prisoners.

He added, "It has become clear to the mediators that the Zionist entity is the one obstructing reaching an agreement, and the United States will be a partner in this procrastination unless it forces the occupation to accept an agreement."

He also accused Washington of trying to cover up the extent of its partnership in the aggression against the Gaza Strip through its contribution to the airdrop of humanitarian aid, while it continues to supply Israel with weapons to kill Palestinians and continues to obstruct any international efforts in the Security Council to stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza.

He said that the American administration does not seek to achieve stability in the region and that it wants Israel to stop the killing for a few weeks and then resume it again.

He said that Israel's strategy in the war was based from the first day on targeting civilians, which was evident in the statements of Defense Minister Yoav Galant and in targeting hospitals and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the occupation government does not trust the ability of its army to confront the resistance, which prompted it to focus on targeting civilians. .

Black propaganda

Regarding what is being circulated in the Israeli media about the progress of the negotiations, he stressed that the majority of what the Israeli media is covering in this regard is incorrect, pointing out the existence of what he called “systematic black propaganda” to promote a certain image of Israel’s position on the negotiations.

He said that the Israelis "sent ridiculous demands, including a list of names of living prisoners held by the resistance."

He explained that what was proposed was just a set of ideas from both sides to consider implementing, and that the resistance presented legitimate demands, stressing that talk about Hamas’ rejection of the proposal is nothing more than black propaganda in which US President Joe Biden participates.

Hamdan said that the recent UN report regarding the resistance’s sexual assault on some Israeli women during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was not based on any evidence and did not mention any of those whom it said were assaulted.

He stressed that the report was issued to cover up another report issued recently that confirmed the extent of Israeli attacks on Palestinian women.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations also called for the dismissal of the UN employee who issued this report, which he said was written by the Israelis and that the UN employee signed it without taking into account the conditions of integrity and accuracy.
