The demonstrators chanted “April 2 terminus”, or even “Macky demal”, “Macky go away”.

For them, the president must respect the Constitution and leave power on this date which marks the end of his mandate.

They refuse the date of June 2 proposed at the end of the national dialogue this week as well as a possible interim of

The football field on which they gathered in Yoff filled up from 3 p.m., to be almost full at the end.

The Fippu which initiated the demonstration was created on Thursday

It brings together civil society coalitions, such as F24 or Aar Sunu elections, “Protect our elections” in Wolof, but also most of the 19 candidates validated by the Constitutional Council for the February 25 election.

Among the demonstrators, there were many Pastef activists who also demanded the release of their leader Ousmane Sonko as well as his right arm Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the candidate in the running.

Also citizens came to demand the release of all other political detainees and supporters of other candidates like Khalifa Sall or Anta Babacar Ngom.
