Suspected ex-RAF terrorist Garweg: "The LKA Lower Saxony strongly advises against approaching the wanted people yourself!"

The suspected former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette was arrested in Berlin on Monday.

Now the police are once again asking for help in catching two former accomplices: In the search for the still-fugitive suspected ex-RAF terrorists Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg, the police have published new mugshots.

The images most likely showed Garweg, said the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Hanover.

The very clear and private-looking images were therefore taken between 2021 and 2024.

The Berlin police also pointed out the manhunt call for X.

According to the LKA, the most recent photo presumably shows Garweg sitting on a sofa between two dogs and eating.

It was not yet clear whether the dogs were Garweg's animals, it was said.

This is still the subject of investigations.

According to current findings, it cannot be ruled out that Garweg and Burdock, who was caught in Berlin, had personal and direct contact with each other.

A spokesman for the LKA did not want to say whether the photos were found during the search of Klette's apartment.

The investigation is continuing, he said.

Police warned that the fleeing men could be armed.

“The LKA Lower Saxony strongly advises against approaching the wanted people yourself!” says the corresponding tweet from the LKA on X.

On Friday, the Federal Criminal Police Office asked the public for help in finding the two men.

The investigators assume that they could still be in Berlin or the surrounding area.

Ernst-Volker Staub (69) and Burkhard Garweg (55) are at the top of Europol's "Europe's Most Wanted List," which is used to search for serious criminals and terrorists.

Attempted murder and various attempted and completed aggravated robberies

The Verden public prosecutor's office has been investigating Garweg and the ex-RAF member Staub, who is also wanted, since 2015 for attempted murder and various attempted and completed serious robberies between 1999 and 2016.

At the end of February, suspected ex-RAF terrorist Klette, who was wanted with six arrest warrants after armed robberies, was arrested in her Berlin apartment.

She was taken into custody after being identified through fingerprints.

Burdock, now 65 years old, had been wanted for more than 30 years.
