After a recording of an internal conversation between German air force officers was published in Russia, Green security politician Agnieszka Brugger is calling for consequences.

"The events of the last few days show once again how Vladimir Putin is trying to have a massively negative influence on our open society, especially in Germany, through disinformation, destabilization and espionage," the deputy chairwoman of the Green parliamentary group told SPIEGEL.

»This will increase in this year full of important elections, so we have to prepare much better for it in politics, media and society.

As a society, we must become more resilient, robust and defensive.«

"The federal government must communicate securely."

In the recording published on Friday, senior German Air Force officers discussed theoretical options for how the Taurus cruise missile could be used.

They had obviously connected via the Webex platform.

There has been debate about a Taurus delivery to Ukraine for months.

Last week, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) once again refused to hand over the precision weapon to the Ukrainian armed forces.

“It is right that the Military Counterintelligence Service is processing and reviewing this incident,” said Brugger.

"At the same time, it is clear that communication in the federal government, authorities and the Bundeswehr must be as secure as possible."
