In

Cameroon

, the end of

this judicial investigation

comes barely five days after the reclassification for five of the people in detention of the reasons for their indictment.

Thus three elements of the DGRE, the Cameroonian counter-espionage service, will be prosecuted for “assassination”.

Two others, Lieutenant Colonel Justin Danwe, former director of operations of the DGRE and Martin Stéphane Savom, serving mayor of the commune of Bibey will be prosecuted for “complicity in assassination”.

Businessman Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga and Léopold Maxime Eko Eko, former head of the DGRE, the two best-known defendants in this affair, will ultimately be prosecuted for “

complicity in torture

” according to their lawyers.

A trial that promises to be tense

The date of the trial at the military court has not yet been set, but it should begin fairly quickly, according to Charles Tchoungang, leader of Jean-Pierre Amougou Belinga's lawyers.

The closure of the judicial investigation comes thirteen months after the disappearance of the journalist.

It will have consumed a total of three investigating judges, in a tense context and pressure of all kinds.

The upcoming trial should not escape this atmosphere.

One of the related issues is whether it will be open to the public or not.
