The United States carried out an attack on Houthi sites in the city of Hodeidah, western Yemen, while the Yemeni government said that the attack hit two fishermen's boats and led to the death of some of them and the loss of others.

The Houthi Al-Masirah satellite channel reported that an American-British bombing targeted the Al-Jabanah area, west of the city of Hodeidah, with two raids.

American military commanders said they carried out a strike against a surface-to-air missile belonging to the Iran-aligned Houthis that was prepared to be launched from Yemen.

The US Central Command explained on the X website that the Houthis launched - yesterday, Friday - an anti-ship ballistic missile towards the Red Sea from Yemen.

Over the past weeks, the city of Hodeidah has been subjected to a large number of American and British raids, in an attempt to limit the capabilities of the Houthis.

The importance of Hodeidah

Hodeidah is one of the most important Yemeni governorates, as it contains 3 vital ports and camps, in addition to having a long coastal strip on the Red Sea.

In "solidarity with the Gaza Strip", which is facing a devastating Israeli war with American support, the Houthis targeted, with missiles and drones, Israeli cargo ships or those linked to them in the Red Sea, stressing the continuation of their operations until the end of the war on the Strip.

Since the beginning of this year, the "Guardian of Prosperity" coalition, led by Washington, has launched raids that it says target Houthi sites in various regions of Yemen, in response to its attacks in the Red Sea, which has been met with a response from the group from time to time.

With the intervention of Washington and London, and tensions took a noticeable escalation last January, the Houthis announced that all American and British ships had become among their military targets.

In the same context, the British maritime security company Ambrey stated that it had received several reports of another incident involving the Rubimar cargo ship.

The company said that the ship Rubymar was 16 nautical miles west of Mokha (on the Red Sea, southwest of Yemen) at the time of the second accident.

The Yemeni government said that it was surprised by air attacks on a boat of Yemeni fishermen near the ship Rubimar, which led to the death of a number of them and the loss of some of them.
