The funeral of Vladimir Putin's number one opponent, Alexei Navalny, took place in Moscow this Friday.

An event which brought together thousands of people, hailed by Emmanuel Macron for their bravery.

This Saturday, hundreds of Russians braved the cold and a possible arrest to pay their respects at Navalny's grave.

Since Saturday morning, hundreds of people have been lining up, with a bouquet of flowers in their hands, in front of the grave of Alexeï Navalny.

Images relayed on social networks show a silent crowd, waiting patiently in front of the gates of the Borissovo cemetery, in the south of Moscow.

A gathering under a pale winter sun, as if to show that the fight of Vladimir Putin's main opponent is not buried with him.

For Sergei Jirnov, a former Soviet KGB officer, this popular support breaks the criminal image of Alexeï Navalny, constructed by the Russian president: "It breaks a little bit of a preconceived idea which is also conveyed by pro- Russian and pro-Putin, is that supposedly there is no opposition to Putin in Russia.

According to him, the number of people who decided to spend several hours in the cold to pay their last respects to Navalny still proves that they "are people who are resigned enough and willing enough to prove that they support the cause of Navalny.

A cause that the opponent's widow is committed to pursuing.
