"Our generation has such a complex that we must help our people, especially our farmers, and no one should be missing on the road to socialism."

General Secretary Xi Jinping often talks about his life experience in rural areas, and his words are full of deep emotions for the villagers and the countryside.

During the National Two Sessions in 2014, when General Secretary Xi Jinping participated in the deliberation of the Guizhou delegation, he recalled the years when he joined the team in Liangjiahe. He talked about the sauerkraut that fellow villagers sent him to "improve his life" at that time, which he has never forgotten.

On May 23, 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited members of the economic community who attended the third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and participated in a joint organizing meeting to listen to opinions and suggestions.

In the late 1960s, Xi Jinping, who was less than 16 years old, came to rural northern Shaanxi from Beijing and worked there for seven years.

Along the way from the countryside, the background of labor has shaped his true nature of serving the people. He has deep feelings for the yellow land and the people who have relied on the land for generations to make a living.

Talking about the people in poor areas, the general secretary said: "As Communists, we must take them into consideration and truly do practical things for them."

Doing practical things for the people, especially helping the farmers, has always been General Secretary Xi Jinping’s concern and his original intention in politics.

This special feeling is naturally revealed in his exchanges with representatives and committee members during the two sessions every year.

In 2017, when participating in the deliberation of the Sichuan delegation, the general secretary talked about the "cliff village" in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and said: "I saw the children in the village climbing rattan on the cliff all year round, and the safety of going up and down the mountain was not guaranteed. After watching it, I still felt very heavy and worried.”

Comparison of the past and present of "Cliff Village": The picture on the left shows children in "Cliff Village" climbing the wooden ladder to go home on May 14, 2016.

The picture on the right shows that on May 13, 2020, villagers of the "Cliff Village" took their luggage down the mountain through the steel ladder and moved to their new homes in the relocation poverty alleviation centralized resettlement site.

The word "heartbreaking" deeply touched everyone present.

On the eve of the Spring Festival in 2018, the General Secretary visited Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan.

In Sanhe Village, along the winding mountain road with steep slopes, he visited two poor households, Jihaoyeqiu and Jielieouamu. He checked the poverty alleviation contact card in front of the door, talked about daily life with the people cordially, and asked about their daily life. The situation, industrial development, income, whether the children are in school...the concern is beyond words.

The general secretary said that Liangshan and Liangshan are places he has always wanted to come to. In the good life of the people, a nation, a family, and a person cannot be missing.

At that time, the fight against poverty was at a critical period, and "no one should be left behind" was both a promise and an encouragement.

In March 2022, at the joint meeting of the CPPCC National Committee of Agriculture, Social Welfare and Social Security Committee members, Yeshi Dawa, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, showed the General Secretary two photos comparing the past and present of "Cliff Village".

The General Secretary was very happy to see that the "cliff village" that once worried him was no longer what it used to be.

On May 14, 2020, in Zhaojue County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, a villager from "Cliff Village" named Sewuha moved into a new house.

Our country is a large agricultural country. Whether in the period of revolution, construction, reform, or in the new era, farmers have always been an important force in national development.

If the nation is to be rejuvenated, the countryside must be revitalized.

When visiting rural areas, General Secretary Xi Jinping always asks: What else do you need?

During the National Two Sessions in 2019, Li Liancheng, a representative of the National People's Congress, told the General Secretary the "eight dreams" of farmers in Henan dialect - they want to get rid of poverty and become rich, they want to urbanize on the spot, they want to find a good school for their children, and they want to bring their children to the village. There is a good cultural venue…

After listening to this, the general secretary sighed with emotion: "This is really what I want to hear now."

On March 8, 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping participated in the deliberations of the Henan delegation at the Second Session of the 13th National People's Congress.

The general secretary said to Li Liancheng: "What you talked about today is exactly the requirements of the majority of farmers for their pursuit of a happy life. Some have been completed, some are still in the process of being implemented, and some are planned for the next step."

From the emphasis in 2017 that "we must persist in using industry to support agriculture, use cities to lead rural areas, and focus the construction of public infrastructure on rural areas," to the emphasis in 2020 that "rural construction must be carried out step by step, work steadily, and achieve success over time." In the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, he emphasized "comprehensive promotion of rural revitalization"... The general secretary always keeps the dreams of the farmers in his heart and implements them.

From the wish to "have enough food and clothing" to the vivid reality that agriculture has become stronger, farmers have become rich, and the countryside has become beautiful, farmers' lives are getting better and better. The general secretary's rural sentiment has become a huge driving force for comprehensively promoting rural revitalization. .
