To help students experiencing energy poverty to lower their electricity bill, the city of Besançon is organizing several distributions of “thermal leggings”.

This would allow them to reduce their energy consumption “by 20 to 40%,” says the municipality.

“A simple solution to reduce your energy consumption”.

The city of Besançon, in Doubs, will distribute “thermal leggings” to students in precarious situations.

This was announced by the municipality in a video posted on its Facebook page this week.

According to the City, this solution would allow “lowering the heating by 1 to 1.5 degrees”, or “a saving of 20 to 40% on your consumption”.

This initiative of the Local Intervention Service for Energy Management (Slime) also aims to "support, as closely as possible to their needs, students in situations of energy poverty", we can read below the video .

8 out of 10 young people turn down their heating to save money

In total, 450 black leggings on which the slogan “Here is Besac” is printed will be distributed to students, indicates France 3 Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

For the city, this represents a cost of 10,000 euros.

The distributions will take place on March 2, 6 and 9.

According to data from the national energy mediator, 18-34 year olds particularly suffer from energy poverty.

Among them, almost 8 in 10 say they are restricting their level of heating, and half are struggling to pay certain energy bills.
