He recalled that last year a project was launched to introduce the Russian language into the school education system in Laos.

“Taught by professional Russian specialists from Tomsk State University.

Of course, we plan to expand the number of schools in which Russian classes will be created and in which the Russian language will be taught.

And today there was a ceremony to present books to school libraries,” explained RT’s interlocutor.

First of all, according to him, these are textbooks on the Russian language, scientific and methodological materials, fiction, which will help schoolchildren to better understand Russian culture and learn more about Russia.

“We carried out this project with the support of the Russian-Laotian Friendship Society, which also actively took part in it and was involved in the purchase and supply of the necessary literature,” Radkov said.

In addition, he added that the issue of training teachers and Russian language teachers among the Laotians is now on the agenda.

“It is clear that if the Russian language has not been taught for 30 years, then there are practically no teachers in Laos, namely professional Russian specialists.

Therefore, within the framework of the quota provided by the government of the Russian Federation, 12 bachelor's graduates from the Russian Language Department of the Lao University will be sent to study master's programs at the Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg, which will allow, upon successful completion, to receive a sufficient number of teachers so that they through for several years they could already teach in schools and cover more schools, not only in Vientiane, but also in large provincial cities of the country,” he said.

Radkov also emphasized that the Laotians show a very great interest in the Russian language, and children are happy to study Russian.

“We received the conclusion of the Institute of Scientific Pedagogy, which exists in Laos under the Ministry of Education and Sports, which audited the quality of teaching the Russian language in Lao schools during the first semester, and received a high assessment of the quality of teaching and the quality of how Laotian children learn the school curriculum.” , he concluded.

Earlier, Radkov spoke in a conversation with RT about the opening of Russian classes in two prestigious schools in Laos.
