, a reference in Spanish pastry, died this Friday in Huesca

at the age of 92

Patriarch and soul of the family business, honorary president of the

Ascaso Pastry Shop

, almost 140 years old, he took charge of the business in 1960 when he succeeded his father Vicente Ascaso Ciria.

In the 70s he made constant trips, attending fairs, courses and contacts with other schools and pastry masters.

It was then that Ascaso

became a reference for pastry

and style.

In 2018 he was awarded the "Paco Torreblanca" Memorial Award from the

Royal Academy of Gastronomy,

which recognized him as the Best Pastry Chef in Spain.

The dedication and dedication of the entire Ascaso family since 1890 in the field of pastry was recognized, among whose products stands out a hallmark of the sweet gastronomy of Spain, such as the

famous Russian cake

, a sweet whose original recipe remains a own secret of the Ascaso workshop.

Huesca, Zaragoza and Madrid

as well as the online pastry shop.

Its last expansion was the transfer of its production to a new workshop, measuring 1,680 square meters, a two-story building, located in the

Huesca Logistics Platform

A lover of horses, Vicente Ascaso was also a great expert in the world of bullfighting, he was part of the jury

of the Albahaca de San Lorenzo Awards

for many editions and collaborated with Radio Huesca and Huesca Television, in numerous bullfighting broadcasts.
