The European Union (EU) has announced that it will process some payments next week for funding to UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees), which is responsible for aid in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, they announced new support through other international organizations such as the Red Cross, explaining that they are diversifying their support.

The EU did not provide clarity on funding beyond this month after some UNRWA staff were suspected of involvement in Hamas attacks on Israel.

However, as the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip deepens, the government announced on the 1st that it will begin payment procedures next week for 8 billion yen, a portion of this year's contribution of 82 million euros, or 13 billion yen in Japanese yen.

The EU says that this decision was based on an agreement with UNRWA on strengthening internal investigation departments and management, and that the remaining contributions will be paid according to the implementation status of the agreement.

Meanwhile, the EU has announced that it will allocate more than 11 billion yen (in addition to UNRWA) to support the Palestinian people through the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Regarding this, Commissioner Barhei, who is in charge of EU policy toward neighboring countries, explained in a post on social media that it ``diversifies support for the Palestinian people.''

EU President Michel also posted on social media on the 1st regarding the announcement by health authorities in the Gaza Strip that more than 100 people who were waiting for aid were killed in an Israeli attack, saying, ``Innocent civilians were killed.'' "I was shocked and disgusted by the incident," he said, adding that he believes it is necessary to promptly conduct an independent investigation and hold people accountable.
