China News Service, Brussels, February 29 (Xinhua) The Chinese Mission to the European Union responded to the China-related content of the European Parliament's annual foreign policy report on February 29, condemning the relevant content in the strongest possible terms.

A reporter asked: On February 28, the European Parliament passed the 2023 EU foreign and security policy report with 338 votes in favor, 86 votes against, and 122 abstentions. It made unbridled accusations against China on issues such as Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and the South China Sea. Claiming that "China and Taiwan are not affiliated with each other," it welcomed the official delegation of the European Parliament to visit Taiwan.

What is China's comment?

A spokesman for the Chinese Mission to the EU said that the China-related contents of the European Parliament report seriously trampled on international law and basic norms of international relations, violated China's sovereignty, and grossly interfered in China's internal affairs.

China is deeply shocked by this, firmly opposes it, and condemns it in the strongest possible terms.

The spokesperson pointed out that the report blatantly advocates "one China, one Taiwan", challenges the one-China principle, and exposes the "Taiwan independence" forces. It exposes the ignorance of history and reality of some European politicians, and the dark faces of some European politicians who seek to obstruct China's reunification.

The spokesperson said that the one-China principle is a basic norm of international relations universally observed by the international community.

There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legal government representing all of China.

This was clarified in 1971 by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758.

When China and the EU established diplomatic relations in 1975, the EU made a clear commitment to adopt a position acceptable to the People's Republic of China on the Taiwan issue and not to maintain any official relations or conclude any agreements with Taiwan.

The spokesperson emphasized that China must be reunified and will be reunified, and no one or any force can stop it.

Some European politicians are advised to read more, abide by international law and basic norms of international relations, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, stop making irresponsible remarks, do more things that are beneficial to the development of China-EU relations, and stop making people laugh in front of the world.
