The Supreme Court has agreed this Thursday in deliberation to open a case against the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont for his involvement in the Democratic Tsunami procedure.

According to legal sources, the Criminal Chamber has accepted for processing the reasoned statement sent by the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 6 of the National Court, Manuel García Castellón, where he detailed the existing evidence against Puigdemont for terrorism crimes.

The magistrates, unanimously, conclude that with respect to Puigdemont and the deputy of the Catalan Parliament Rubén Wagensberg it is "necessary and pertinent that they be called to the procedure, in order to be heard as investigated, with all the rights and guarantees provided for in our legal system. "Investigative diligence that cannot be carried out by the instructor, but only by this Second Chamber because they have jurisdiction."

The Admissions Chamber chaired by Manuel Marchena thus ignores the criteria of the TS lieutenant prosecutor, the progressive Ángeles Sánchez-Conde, who did not appreciate evidence against the fugitive from the

process.

Sánchez-Conde, in her report, had moved away from the criteria set by a very large majority of High Court prosecutors who did see signs of terrorism against the Junts leader.

Furthermore, the final opinion issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office was preceded by enormous controversy due to the surprising change of opinion of the prosecutor assigned to inform Puigdemont, Álvaro Redondo, as this newspaper revealed.

The Supreme Court thus assumes the jurisdiction to investigate the MEP - in its capacity as a certified person - and opens a new criminal procedure against Carles Puigdemont, who is still on the run and pending his appearance before the High Court in the main case of the

process

.

The Chamber will now appoint an investigator to investigate the Government's key partner when the Amnesty Law to erase crimes of secessionist defiance has not yet been approved.
