The amnesty law was adopted by the Council of Ministers on Wednesday evening.

With our correspondent in Dakar,
Théa Ollivier
President
Macky Sall
had announced that the general amnesty law for “
facts relating to political demonstrations
” occurring since 2021 was adopted by the Council of Ministers.
During these days of protests, hundreds of people were arrested, dozens died and significant material damage was caused.
But before coming into force, this law must still be voted on in the National Assembly.
For this, no date has been announced.
This law, which aims at appeasement, is not unanimous in any case, neither in the opposition camp nor in that of the majority.
National Dialogue
In the Council of Ministers, the President of
Senegal
also announced that he will receive
the report of the national dialogue
during a hearing scheduled for Monday March 4, then he will refer the matter to the Constitutional Council to obtain its opinion on the recommendations of the dialogue.
A presidential election on June 2, a list open to additional candidates, President Macky Sall who continues as head of state until the election of his successor... So many proposals resulting from the national dialogue boycotted by 17 of the 19 candidates selected by the Constitutional Council.
Most of them have contacted the seven wise men, they accuse Macky Sall of taking “
delaying
” acts “
so as not to set a date for the election
”.
