This was stated by the official representative of the Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric.

“The Secretary-General condemns today’s incident in Northern Gaza, which has reportedly resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of people who were waiting for life-saving assistance,” he said.

Dujarric added that humanitarian aid is needed by civilians in Gaza, including the population of the besieged northern part, where the organization has been unable to deliver aid for more than a week.

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces reported that dozens of Gazans died during the stampede and under the wheels of trucks that delivered humanitarian aid to the north of the enclave.

The UN Security Council will meet in a closed meeting on the Middle East after the attack on Gaza residents during the distribution of humanitarian aid.
