The Associated Press quoted Canadian International Development Minister Ahmed Hussein as saying that the Canadian government will work to drop aid by air into Gaza as soon as possible, while the administration of US President Joe Biden is considering the same matter, amid growing fears of a famine in the besieged Gaza Strip, which Israel is waging. A devastating aggression against it has left tens of thousands of martyrs since last October.

Hussein said yesterday, Wednesday, that the process of dropping aid in partnership with countries with a similar interest in the region, such as Jordan, will be a matter for discussion.

The same Canadian minister said in his statements last week that the provision of aid to the Gaza Strip is not as soon as required, noting that the arduous inspection process has slowed down the movement of supplies brought in by trucks. These statements came after a visit to the Rafah border crossing.

Canada has allocated 100 million Canadian dollars ($74 million) to aid the besieged sector since the beginning of the conflict, including 40 million Canadian dollars ($30 million) committed last January.

Earlier, Axios quoted American officials as saying that the Biden administration is considering airdropping humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip as it becomes increasingly difficult to deliver it by land.

The officials said that there is growing concern within the White House about the threat of famine in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a devastating Israeli war since last October 7.

Starvation war

In the latest developments, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, Ashraf Al-Qudra, confirmed that the Israeli occupation is waging a new war on the residents of Gaza, which is a war of starvation.

Al-Qudra stated that the number of martyrs as a result of the starvation war is increasing, especially among children, explaining that there are children in intensive care who are at risk of death as a result of hunger.

He explained that the Israeli occupation obstructs the efforts of all humanitarian organizations, indicating that the health system in northern Gaza is completely incapable, especially after the closure of Kamal Adwan Hospital.

According to Al-Qidra, the Israeli occupation is stubborn in requests from international organizations to bring in aid, and it also prevents the delivery of aid, in a systematic Israeli process to further the policy of extermination.

It is noteworthy that in recent weeks, the Israeli occupation authorities prevented all aid convoys planned to be sent to the north, and the last aid that was allowed to enter was on January 23, according to the World Health Organization.

The volume of aid provided to the suffering population in the Gaza Strip has decreased by half since this February compared to the previous month, according to United Nations data, which confirmed that the Gaza Strip received on average 98 trucks loaded with aid supplies during this entire month.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left about 30,000 martyrs, most of them children and women. Health care has largely collapsed, and many people are living in tents or the streets, and the situation is hopelessly deteriorating in the overcrowded Strip. Populated.
