As the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia reported, in 2022 the accused posted false information on social networks about the actions of the Russian army in the Northern Military District zone.

“The illegal activities of the attacker were identified by employees of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Republic of Karelia,” the statement notes.

The man was sentenced to six years in prison to serve his sentence in a maximum security penal colony.

Earlier, a court in Moscow sentenced human rights activist Oleg Orlov* to 2.5 years in prison for spreading fake news about the Russian Armed Forces.
