China News Service, Hong Kong, February 28 (Reporter Liu Dawei) The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Paul Chan, delivered the 2024-2025 budget at the Legislative Council of the Special Administrative Region on the 28th, announcing that an additional 1.095 billion yuan (Hong Kong dollars, the same below) will be allocated. By making better use of various social and natural resources, promoting the organization of major events and themed annual meetings in different categories, and taking into account opportunities from industrial development, we will build Hong Kong's brand as a preferred destination for business and tourism.

  According to the announcement, relevant measures include holding major events and themed conferences, making good use of seaside resources, creating different tourism experiences, and strengthening publicity and promotion.

  Among them, regarding the hosting of major events, Chan Mo-po said that in the first half of this year, there will be more than 80 major events of different themes and types in Hong Kong, including the "Art March" series of activities, the first international golf tournament held in Hong Kong, LIV Golf, etc.

The SAR government has established a major events coordinating group and will be more proactive in the future to strive for more major events to be held in Hong Kong and further strengthen inter-departmental collaboration.

The SAR government has earmarked NT$100 million to strengthen the promotion of major events in the next three years.

  Regarding making good use of seaside resources, Paul Chan said that the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will hold monthly fireworks and drone shows against the night sky of Victoria Harbor, and will re-create the "Symphony of Lights" light and music show.

  In addition, in response to different seasons, festivals and events, the HKTB will create new experiences with different themes such as Chinese and Western art, pop culture, wine and food, rural travel, and dynamic sports to attract different tourists and encourage the industry to introduce more different combinations tourism products and continue to strengthen local characteristic tourism activities.

  Chan Mo-po said that the SAR government will make every effort to promote major events and design themed in-depth tourism, enrich tourism resources and provide more new products and experiences in response to the preferences of tourists of different types and origins.

This helps stimulate demand for retail, consumption, restaurants and transportation.
