As TASS reports, the document addressed to the Federation Council and the State Duma contains a request “to implement measures to protect Transnistria in the face of increasing pressure from Moldova, taking into account the fact that more than 220 thousand Russian citizens permanently reside on the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.”

In addition, the authors appeal to the positive experience of cooperation with Russia on the Dniester and the status of a mediator in negotiations.

The draft resolution of the congress also contains an appeal to the Secretary General of the UN, the CIS, the European Parliament and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe with a request to prevent escalation in relations with Moldova.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow will not allow 200 thousand Russian citizens in Transnistria to become victims of “another Western adventure” to destabilize the region.

Prior to this, the head of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said that the Moldovan authorities had switched from negotiations to methods of pressure.
