The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, confirmed that it was agreed to increase the State of Qatar's investments in France to 10 billion euros in the coming years, which will be directed to strengthening strategic economic partnerships between the two countries.

This came in a speech delivered by the Emir of Qatar - Tuesday - during an official dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in honor of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Elysee Palace, according to what was reported by the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

During his speech, the Emir of Qatar praised the city of Paris’s preparations to host the 2024 Paris Olympics next summer, expressing the State of Qatar’s aspiration to cooperate in the success of organizing this global sporting event.

For its part, the Elysee Palace said - in a statement - that Qatar and France concluded a strategic partnership under which Qatar agreed to allocate 10 billion euros to finance emerging companies and investment funds in France between 2024 and 2030.

He added that investments "that are mutually beneficial to both countries" will target key sectors ranging from energy transformation, semiconductors, space, artificial intelligence, digitalization, health, hospitality and culture, Reuters reported.

Today, Wednesday, an economic forum will be held on investment opportunities between the two countries in the fields of artificial intelligence, decarbonization, semiconductors, biotechnology, and health, according to what was reported by Agence France-Presse.

France is the first European investor in Qatar, having invested $9 billion in the fields of energy, aviation, infrastructure and tourism, and it is also one of the five main countries receiving investments from Qatar.
