Military expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi said that Israel is currently carrying out a destruction operation in the northern Gaza Strip, noting that the policy of constructing new roads in the Strip confirms the intention of a long-term occupation.

Al-Duwairi explained - during his daily analysis on Al Jazeera - that the occupation forces destroyed 150 buildings in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip alone within a week, and he believes that this systematic destruction reflects their intention to wipe the city from the face of the earth, as he put it.

He added, "If we look at the process of developing roads within the Gaza Strip, it confirms that there is a tendency to provide a suitable ground for permanent occupation on the one hand, and to facilitate the movement of troops in and out at any time on the other hand."

Regarding the escalation of the Qassam Brigades - the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas - in Lebanon, Al-Duwairi said that this is normal behavior in order to support the resistance in Gaza and put pressure on Israel.

He added, "When we talk about Grad and Katyusha 122 missiles, we are talking about short-range missiles that pose a security threat to the settlements adjacent to southern Lebanon, and prevent the return of settlers to them."

Al-Qassam had announced earlier today the bombing of settlements near the Lebanese border with 40 missiles, while the occupation army said it was only 10 missiles.
