The two police officers appearing as private prosecutors in the

Democratic Tsunami

case ask the judge of the National Court,

Manuel García-Castellón

, to reactivate the investigation into Russian interference during the bulk of the independence

process

in

Catalonia

.

Specifically, they demand that the National Police report on the presence of Russian spies in

Barcelona

between 2014 and 2019, between the time prior to the arrival of

Carles Puigdemont

to the Generalitat, his subsequent mandate, the illegal referendum, the DUI and the protests against the 1-O ruling, according to a writing to which EL MUNDO has had access.

The two police agents ask the judge of the National Court to require the General Commissioner of Information of the National Police Corps to "report on the Russian spies experts in sabotage and murders who traveled to Barcelona between 2014 and 2019, as appears in the news provided by this procedural representation."

And in their brief of allegations, the two agents represented by the Fuster Fabra law firm attach a collection of articles, reports and investigative news from various media outlets published over the last few years - which include EL MUNDO, among others, with this document on the

Russosphere

- on the presence of at least seven agents of the Main Directorate of the High General Staff of the Armed Forces (GRU) of Russia, Moscow's military intelligence service, who traveled to the Catalan capital during the process and the 1-O.

According to another journalistic investigation, the seven agents belong or were linked to the elite section of the clandestine GRU (8created around 2008) "to carry out sabotage, assassination and destabilization operations against opponents and other enemies of Putin."

Two of these spies arrived in 2014, when Artur Mas organized the 9-N pseudo-consultation, the embryo of the illegal 1-O referendum.

Two years later, in 2016 and with Carles Puigdemont at the head of the Generalitat, more Russian spies arrived, according to the aforementioned investigation by El Periódico and El Confidencial that they attached in the aforementioned writing to which this medium has had access.

In October 2019, the Investigative Court number 6 of the National Court opened an investigation into the aforementioned presence of GRU agents in Catalonia and their possible interference in the

process

, a case that Castellón filed in May 2021. Now, the two agents presented as a private accusation in Tsunami, they ask to reactivate it.

"Not having found in the present procedure any police report about the investigation carried out regarding the alleged covert operations of the members of the Moscow military intelligence service (GRU), and it being of interest to this procedural representation that if true and exist join this case in order to carry out a correct investigation of the facts, we request that the General Information Commissariat of the National Police Corps be sent a letter so that if they exist (...) the reports can be provided corresponding police forces," the two police agents claim in their writing.
