A first gesture of appeasement at the launch of a national dialogue which attempts to bring together the “living forces of the nation”, that is to say political leaders, civil society, unions, employers and religious leaders and customary.

As for the candidates for the presidential election who were selected by the Constitutional Council, only two responded to President Macky Sall's call:

Amadou Ba

, the current Prime Minister and candidate of the presidential camp and

Boune Abdallah Dionne

, a former head of government

Many of those who failed to vote have expressed their position, such as the PDS democratic party of former President Abdoulaye Wade, whose son

Karim Wade

is the candidate.

They are demanding a total resumption of the electoral process so that their candidate can participate in the next election.

What about the other candidates validated by the Constitutional Council?

Fifteen of the 19 validated candidates who were absent from the dialogue filed yesterday, Monday, an appeal to the Constitutional Council to put pressure on so that the vote will be held before April 2, the date which marks the end of Macky Sall's mandate.

What follow-up to the dialogue?

Today, the technical commissions meet from the beginning of the morning on the date of the election and after April 2 which marks the end of Macky Sall's mandate.

The actors must make decisions to the head of state at the end of the day.

The latter undertook to respect them and to sign a decree for the convening of the electoral body.

Meanwhile, the mobilization continues in the streets.

Last weekend, several political or civil society demonstrations were organized, as well as several symbolic votes organized this Sunday, February 25, the date initially scheduled for the presidential election.

Actors from civil society and some of the candidates for the presidential election

therefore voted to put pressure on

so that the presidential election would be held as quickly as possible.
