On Monday, a first grade teacher in a public school in Drancy was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for having translated songs glorifying Daesh.

This Tuesday, the day after the incarceration of the 26-year-old man, parents of students said they were shocked and worried about the situation.

He was a bit of a man with two faces: a first grade teacher in a public school in Drancy on one side, and on the other, a propagandist for Daesh.

This 26-year-old man was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention for having translated songs glorifying the Islamic State.

One of them was even used for propaganda by the terrorist organization.

For the occasion, Europe 1 went to the primary school where this teacher worked to meet the parents, torn between concern and astonishment.

“We wonder”

In front of the primary school, worry can be seen on the faces of the parents of the students.

For the few who linger in front of the gates, the indictment of this professor occupies every conversation.

Maria, mother of a little girl in CE1, is stunned by the news.

“It shocks me that our children are perhaps under this influence. It’s true that it’s scary because Daesh are terrorists who kill people,” she worries at the microphone of Europe 1. The fear of the influence of this radicalized teacher on the youngest haunts the students' parents, like Willy, father of two children, who almost kept them at home.

"There, I wondered if I was going to drop him off this afternoon. I'm doing it, but we have the impression that there are a lot of things that escape us and we don't find that normal. Already , when we know that Drancy has a history in relation to the Bataclan, it was someone from here. So, we wonder,” underlines the father of the family.

The latter especially wonders how such a teacher profile remained under the radar for so long.

For him, National Education must ensure the safety of children.

"We wonder if they really know what kind of staff they are hiring too. I don't find that normal. We should be aware of everything that is happening in terms of recruitment. We need knowing criminal records, we want to know the background of the people who come to teach our children. That seems normal to me,” demands the father.

Tenured since 2021, this 26-year-old teacher taught six and seven year-old students in CP class.
