The second day of the 55th session of the Human Rights Council, held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, witnessed Arab warnings of the catastrophic consequences of the attack that Israel is preparing to launch on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, condemnation of the brutal crimes carried out by the Israeli occupation army there, and criticism of double standards in dealing with international crises. And demands to stop the genocide in Gaza.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said, “The recent Gaza crisis has become revealing of the dilemma of double standards in dealing with international crises and gross violations of human rights,” and he denounced “the current state of polarization that the international system and its mechanisms, including this Council, are suffering from.”

Shukri called for “an immediate ceasefire and refraining from any military action in the city of Rafah,” the last refuge for about 1.5 million Palestinians displaced there, and warned against “any military action in these circumstances, because it has catastrophic consequences that threaten the foundations of peace in the region.” .

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya also condemned the "brutal crimes of the Israeli occupation forces against defenseless civilians," which caused "human suffering, a catastrophic crisis, and comprehensive destruction" in the Gaza Strip.

For his part, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita said, "Gaza is experiencing an unprecedented crisis and a real humanitarian catastrophe that the international community cannot continue to turn a blind eye to."

Earlier today, Qatari Minister of State for International Cooperation Lulwah Al Khater denounced a "war of extermination" in the Gaza Strip, pointing out that the situation is also deteriorating in the occupied West Bank.

She called on "all countries to avoid duplicity and take all measures to stop the ongoing crime of genocide in Gaza and protect civilians."

The Qatari Minister said that what is happening in Gaza is a war of genocide, and demanded an immediate ceasefire and hostilities in Gaza, and warned that the Security Council failed to issue a ceasefire resolution, which is the third since last October 7, and the 45th in its modern history.

The Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called for the need to end the sponsorship of some world powers for this Israeli exception above international law.

She said that Israel intensified its military attack, killing about 400 people in the West Bank.

She added that 2023 is the bloodiest year for civilians in the West Bank.

In a video speech, Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar condemned “brutally” human rights violations, denouncing the “paralysis” of the international community.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, in addition to the huge human losses among civilians, caused massive destruction of homes, infrastructure, and hospitals, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to Palestinian and UN data.

As a result of these Israeli attacks, a lawsuit was filed against Israel before the International Court of Justice, where it appeared for the first time in its history before international justice on charges of committing genocide in Gaza.
