A Russian political expert who also served as a high-ranking official on the US National Security Council (NSC) believes that the current situation in which the West's continued military aid to Ukraine is being questioned is similar to the situation during World War II. ``We are at a historic moment,'' he said, calling for the United States and other countries to provide assistance now.

Fiona Hill, an expert on Russian politics who also served as a senior official on the US National Security Council (NSC), gave an interview to CNN TV on the 23rd, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In this, Mr. Hill said of the Russian army led by President Putin, ``Ukraine will fight until the last man standing,'' and pointed out that they are trying to bring it into a war of attrition with overwhelming military power.

On the other hand, regarding the Ukrainian military, ``Right now it is important to maintain the front line rather than attack.''

Hill said that the current situation in which the West's continued military aid to Ukraine is being questioned is similar to the situation in which the United States tried to support Britain in its fight against Nazi Germany in World War II. “We are now at a historic moment,” he said.

He then touched on the United States, whose continued support is in doubt, saying, ``This is a shameful moment at this historic moment because the United States is preoccupied with domestic grievances,'' and added, ``This is an important year, and we must not take a step back.'' "We cannot do that," he said, calling for the United States and other countries to support Ukraine now.
