The city of Béziers is testing the unique outfit from this Monday for more than 700 students from four schools.

Robert Ménard, various right-wing mayor of the city, welcomes this experiment.

The cost of a uniform is 200 euros, split equally between the city and the state.

Eager since 2014 to adopt the "school uniform", the town of Béziers (Hérault) of Mayor Robert Ménard is delighted with the experimentation with the "unique outfit", which more than 700 students will wear from this Monday at the start of the school year. four schools.

If, 10 years ago, "society did not seem ready", "today everything has changed: the government supports the initiative and the councils" of four schools "from different neighborhoods have approved the launch of the "experiment", welcomed in a press release the town hall of this city of 78,000 inhabitants which is breaking records in terms of social inequalities.

The 719 schoolchildren concerned, accompanied by their parents, were invited during the winter holidays to collect their "clothing kits" free of charge: a dark blazer with a personalized logo of their establishment, a sweater, two white polo shirts, a long pants plus Bermuda shorts and a skirt for girls.

200 euros divided equally between the city and the State

This school outfit will consist of a dark blazer bearing the logo of the city of Béziers, a navy blue sweater and a polo shirt.

Marie, seven years old, is one of the 719 students affected by this uniform.

She's won over: "That's a sweater, underneath I have a t-shirt, a badge, pants and then I'll choose the socks. I like it because it's very soft," explains -she at the microphone of Europe 1.

The students are satisfied and so are the parents.

From now on, choosing what to wear will be easier in the morning: "She had already prepared all her clothes. It was quickly done. There is no need to look for outfits, etc. She knows she has to take that and it's over, it's easier for the parents", explains Georges, father of a nine-year-old girl.

Georges did not have to pay for this outfit: the cost is 200 euros, divided equally between the city and the state.
