Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch said Israel had defied the International Court of Justice and refused to comply with its binding order “to take immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance” in Gaza.

Human Rights Watch warned on Monday that the Israeli government had not complied with at least one measure in the legally binding order issued by the International Court of Justice in the genocide case brought before the court by South Africa.

She added that one month after the court order, Israel continues to obstruct the provision of basic services and the entry and distribution of fuel and life-saving aid inside Gaza, and commit acts of violence and violations against civilians, including using starvation of the population as a weapon of war.

Omar Shaker, director of the organization's Israel and Palestine office, said, "The Israeli government is starving 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, which exposes them to greater danger than they were before the binding international court decision."

He added: "The Israeli government has simply ignored the court's ruling and, in some respects, has even intensified its repression, including obstructing life-saving aid."

For its part, Amnesty International said that Israel is defying the ruling of the International Court of Justice to prevent genocide by not allowing adequate humanitarian aid to reach Gaza.

In the same context, the International Court of Justice told Al Jazeera on Monday that it had received Israel's response regarding the extent of its commitment to measures to prevent genocide in Gaza.

The court added to Al Jazeera that it had transferred the Israeli response to South Africa and that its content would remain confidential.
