The man, aged 26, was indicted on February 16 for “terrorist criminal association with a view to committing crimes against people,” said the Pnat.

A source close to the case told AFP that the investigation had been opened following a home visit in December 2023. According to Le Parisien, the young man, a first grade school teacher in Drancy, had been spotted a few years ago by intelligence services for his activity on social networks.

He had attracted the attention of intelligence, according to the daily, for having “privately distributed jihadist propaganda” via “profiles with unambiguous names”.

The young man would have advanced to the investigators, according to the newspaper, the "control" of interlocutors, of whom he only knew the religious name and who would have asked him to interpret anasheeds.

To Le Parisien, his former lawyer described him as "a teacher perfectly integrated into French life", married and father of a family.

The investigations were entrusted jointly to the anti-terrorist section of the criminal brigade (coordinating service) and to the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI), specified the Pnat.
