“In Avdeevka everything happened very quickly”

The senior rifleman of the 5th separate rifle battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, junior sergeant Dmitry Dyadchuk, who was captured by assault units of the Russian Armed Forces during the liberation of Avdiivka, said that he had to hide in a destroyed house for more than a week so as not to be killed by the Ukrainian military.

Dyadchuk was assigned to the 110th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to him, he and his colleagues were not told that they were going to Avdievka.

“In Avdeevka everything happened very quickly.

We drove in at night, didn’t really see anything, but during the day I heard... it was scary... explosions from all sides,” he said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter said that on the very first day of the assault on Avdeevka by Russian troops, he lost all his colleagues and decided to retreat, after which he came under fire from his own units.

“The assault began... I jumped out the window and ran towards my people.

He ran down the street in the hope of hiding somewhere or running to his own people.

When I got there, I heard shooting from my unit, ran into the house and sat there, waiting.

I didn’t have a walkie-talkie, I didn’t have any communication, and I didn’t know the escape route, it wasn’t given to me.

I didn't know what to do.

I just knew which side they brought me from, and that’s all,” he explained.

“I was captured beautifully.

They didn't beat me.

I just gave up.

They tied me up and searched me.

I don’t know what kind of unit it was, I probably don’t need to know.

Everything was fine.

A doctor came up to me and asked if I needed any medical attention.

I showed my leg.

He saw that I had a minor bullet hole that went through and went sideways.

He treated my wound and said that everything would be fine,” Dyadchuk said.
