Mutual bombardment continued between Lebanese Hezbollah and the Israeli occupation army along the border strip, while Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant threatened to intensify the bombing of southern Lebanon, even if a temporary truce was reached with Gaza.

Hezbollah announced this morning that it had targeted an Israeli force in the Al-Baghdadi site and its surroundings, achieving a "direct hit."

The party added in separate statements that it targeted Israeli soldiers in the Al-Malikiyah and Al-Manara settlements, in northern Israel.

On the other hand, Israeli Army Radio announced the interception of a surface-to-air missile in Marj Ibn Amer launched from Lebanon, confirming that the missile was trying to intercept an Israeli drone.

Al Jazeera's correspondent also reported that sirens were sounding in several areas of the Upper Galilee, including Marj Ben Amer, south of Nazareth, and the Alon Hatavor industrial zone near Afula.

In the wake of a devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah and Palestinian factions in Lebanon have exchanged bombardments with the Israeli army on a daily basis since the eighth of last October, resulting in deaths and injuries on both sides, in addition to casualties among Lebanese civilians.

Gallant threats

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has threatened to intensify Hezbollah's bombing in Lebanon, even if a temporary truce is reached with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip, which is being discussed under the auspices of several regional and Western countries.

Gallant said during his visit to the Northern Command headquarters in Safed, "I arrived at the Northern Command. I came to examine how to intensify our firepower and our readiness to act against Hezbollah, everywhere and with increasing intensity."

He continued, "We are targeting activists, and we are targeting Hezbollah leaders, and they are looking for others to replace them. I can tell you that I do not see any volunteers. Everyone is afraid. We will go ahead and strike them," he claimed.

Gallant added, "We will intensify the firing in the north, even if a truce is concluded in Gaza, until Hezbollah surrenders."

He added, "If there is someone who thinks that when we reach an agreement to release the kidnapped people in the south (Gaza) and the fire stops temporarily, this will mitigate what is happening here, then he is wrong."

Galant added, "We will continue to fire, and we will intensify it independently of the south until we achieve our goals."

Gallant has previously vowed, on more than one occasion, to remove Hezbollah beyond the Litani River in southern Lebanon, through a political settlement or through military action.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of victims, most of them children and women, according to Palestinian and UN data, which led to Israel appearing before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.”
