On Monday, the Hamas movement welcomed the positions of European countries rejecting the Israeli aggression against Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, but stressed that the statements alone do not absolve them of their responsibility to prevent the attack on the city.

The movement's statement said that the statements of leaders of European countries "rejecting the aggression against the city of Rafah are welcome, but they do not absolve them of their responsibilities in preventing the criminal attack on Rafah, to which nearly one and a half million Palestinian citizens have been displaced."

Hamas reminded that the governments of European countries continue to "supply weapons to the Zionist army to continue the war of extermination that it is waging against our Palestinian people."

The movement said, "We call on European countries, and the European Union in particular, to take practical and serious positions to prevent the Nazi entity from continuing its criminal war against our people, and to also act in accordance with the decisions of the International Court of Justice, which called on the entity to stop the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian people."

It is noteworthy that Israel is preparing a ground military operation in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, where about two million Palestinians are gathered, most of whom fled the Israeli aggression against the northern Gaza Strip.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which has so far led to the death of about 30,000 martyrs and more than 70,000 wounded, most of whom are women and children.
