On Saturday, an elementary school was vandalized in the town of Grand-Charmont, located in the Doubs department, near Montbéliard.

Considerable damage and above all very surprising given the young age of the suspects, suspected of being at the origin.

According to the mayor of Grand-Charmont, in Doubs, the acts of vandalism committed in an elementary school in the town were the work of young children, aged "10-12".

On Saturday, the establishment suffered considerable damage before the perpetrators of the damage were caught in the act by the mayor, in person.

Alerted by a neighbor who heard noise in the school, the councilor claims to have come across half a dozen children ransacking classrooms.

The damage is heavy and amounts to between 10 and 15,000 euros according to initial estimates.

In particular, an interactive whiteboard was broken, windows were broken and furniture overturned.

An establishment located in a priority area

For the moment, no one knows how these young thugs were able to enter this elementary school, right in the middle of the school holidays.

A priori, no trace of break-in was noted.

The mayor filed a complaint this Monday morning and is due to meet the Montbéliard prosecutor soon.

This is not the first time that this establishment has been targeted.

An intrusion had already taken place last September, and a school extension project has been regularly targeted for a year and a half, indicates the town hall to Europe 1. Damages which had, again, been committed by very young children.

The establishment is located in a priority area and, for the moment, no one knows if the approximately 200 students who are educated there will be able to return to school next Monday as planned.
