In the specific case of the industrial sector, another significant problem arises: the shortage of female leadership.

While in junior-level positions one in three people is a woman,

only 9% of the CEO position is represented by women

.

It is crucial to give visibility to those women who occupy positions of responsibility, as it helps to mitigate the perception of this sector as masculine, a perception that has historically affected this industry, as in many others.

To address this disparity and encourage female participation in the business field, the

Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium

(

CZFB

) created the

Barcelona Woman Acceleration Week

(

BWAW

) in 2021 in collaboration with the Incyde Foundation of the Spanish Chambers of Commerce.

This event, which celebrates its

fourth edition

this year

from March 5 to 7

at the

DFactory Barcelona

, has established itself as a fundamental platform to accelerate gender parity in the business environment.

The objective of celebrating this event, which coincides with International Women's Day (8M), is to eliminate the barriers that hinder female participation at all levels of the industry and the economy.

This edition brings something new, it will last three days and will have a comprehensive program that will include 14

debate

sessions .

In addition, the participation of

more than 60

top-level speakers will stand out.

These sessions will cover a wide range of relevant topics such as

gender equality in the legal field

, the

presence of women in industry 4.0,

the

figure of women in the audiovisual environment

,

parity in large corporations and in the public sector

, professional

retraining

at mid-life

,

human resources management

and the

visibility of female talent

in sectors such as

programming, pharmaceuticals or health

.

Blanca Sorigué, general director of the CZFB

, highlights the importance of this event on the business agenda, stating that

"

BWAW was conceived in 2021 and has quickly established itself as a reference event to reflect on the key role of women in our society." economy. Multiple data show that those companies that encourage equal opportunities between men and women increase their profits more compared to those that do not, therefore, from the business world - and in line with sustainability objectives - it must be committed determined manner for parity"

.

In addition to addressing the gender gap in today's industry and the benefits of having women in management positions, BWAW also focuses on promoting equality and female leadership in the industry of the future and STEM sciences.

The previous edition highlighted the importance of offering equitable salaries, eliminating salary gaps and promoting independent and flexible talent as strategies to retain female talent in these professions.

Pere Navarro,

special delegate of the State at the CZFB, has highlighted that

"from the CZFB, within the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, we want to act as a catalyst to make gender equality a reality in the business field. , seeking solutions to achieve a greater female presence, especially in those traditionally masculinized sectors. In the era of the new economy, parity is essential because it adds value to organizations, encourages greater diversity, and contributes to global growth."

Along these lines, to promote gender equality, in 2020 the CZFB created the Free Zone Women's Council, to value the vision of prominent executives whose companies are located in the industrial estate of the Free Zone of Barcelona. , one of the largest in Spain.
