Burkina Faso: a series of terrorist attacks in several localities in the country

In Burkina Faso, the weekend of February 24-25, 2024 gave rise to a series of terrorist attacks, with several dozen victims.

Among these attacks in

Burkina Faso

, one of the deadliest was the one which took place on Sunday, during the first morning prayer in Natiaboani.

While the inhabitants of this commune in the south-east of Burkina Faso were going to the mosque at 5:00 a.m., they were caught under fire from terrorists.

The attack left dozens dead, mainly men.

– the VDP, these civilian auxiliaries of the army who participate in the fight against the jihadists – and soldiers from Natiaboani also came under heavy fire from automatic weapons before the attackers flee.

That same Sunday, attacks also took place in Kongoussi, in the North, against the 16th rapid intervention battalion, in Tankoualou, in the East, against a military detachment, and finally against another military battalion in Ouahigouya, in the northwest of the country.

There was also a targeted attack on a church: that of Essakane, in the north of Burkina Faso.

There too, it was during the Sunday religious service that armed men attacked the faithful.

According to a press release from the Diocese of Dori, the toll is fifteen dead and two injured.

Among these injured, the priest who held mass this Sunday and who was evacuated to Gorom hospital.
