Dozens of dairy and European farmers formed a procession at the Salon de l'Agriculture this Monday to make themselves heard and demand fair remuneration.

They campaign in particular for the establishment of a common floor price and denounce the ultraliberalism of the Union.

Milk-white T-shirt, bells and a claim: 0.56 euros per liter and per breeder.

An amount which, according to these French and European dairy farmers, determined to make themselves heard at the Salon de l'Agriculture, should make it possible to cover production costs, earn a salary and ensure succession while the size of the herd is reduced , as underlined by Adrien Lefèvre, vice-president of the Association of Independent Milk Producers.

“We don’t want this Europe”

"We came with cows colored in the colors of European countries. But we also have cows made of resin, plastic. Because what we want is to be able to continue to raise these cows, real cows. If we does nothing today, at European level, in this show, tomorrow, instead of real cows, there will be plastic cows", he warns.

“We don’t want this Europe,” chant the producers from 18 countries.

They denounce the ultraliberalism of the Union and demand a common floor price.

A Lithuanian producer wrapped himself in a flag to speak.

"Let's be strong. I only want to be together on this difficult path. We will fight to keep our business, to stay on our farms and survive. Be strong," he says.

The other farmers are called to join the procession.

The event will end at 4 p.m.
