According to Zelensky, he told Putin that the Minsk agreements would not work because “the idea of withdrawing troops to the contact line will not work.”
He added that the Russian leader constantly raised the issue of a ceasefire.
“I don’t remember exactly whether anything surprised me in personal contact.
Because it was like it was in another life... I don’t remember the details,” RIA Novosti quotes Zelensky as saying.
Earlier, Putin emphasized that Russia, even after using military means in Ukraine, tried to end the Ukrainian conflict peacefully.
He also stated that he counted on the integrity of his partners and the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya called the confession of Western leaders that they did not take the Minsk agreements seriously as a confession.
